Valentine Kept Simple

Continuing with my valentine theme today. This card is a simple one. It was taken from a card sketch on a challenge blog. This DSP has retired but I still like it and wanted to use it up. I have mat and layers the ups onto some silver card. I gutted the card to make the banners. The pink abstract DPS is the reverse of the hearts so it co-ordinates so well. I used the heart from the Wood Crate Framelits Dies, the heart is stood up on dimensionals to give it some depth. coloured card stock makes up the banners and the “love you” is from the new Well Written Framelits dies on Silver Glimmer Paper.

Shadow Box Class Project

Each month I hold a card making Class and this month being February it has to be valentine and all things lovely.

Of course just about everything I have stampinUp I think is lovely but I choose the Hedgehugs stamp set and used double sided 6 x 6′ Garden Impressions DSP to make a shadow box.

On the first shadow box I liked the background of the paper so kept it uncovered, I like the heart shaped leaves on the DPS too. The sentiment is included in the Hedgehugs stamp set and cut out using the layering circle framelits dies. The Heart is from the Wood Crate Framlelits dies. I stamped the hedgehogs onto Very Vanila card stock straps and fussy cut them out

On the second Shadow box I’m again using the Hedgehugs stamp set. I love the little toadstools but I have used the markers (Not the blends) to colour the stamps so the head of the toadstool can be red and the stalk and grass can be green. The reverse of this DSP was too bold to have has a background so covered it in Very Vanilla card stock. I also found that the made the card more sturdy.

You Colour My World Family & Friend.

Christmas is over so my next few projects are valentine themed.

Facebook loves to send us memories to look back on and I was reminded of a magic card I made with a friend a few years back. So I remade it with the amazing Family & Friends stamp set from Stamping up which has all these cute little body parts that you can bring together to resemble your family & friend.

Family & Friends Stamp Set by StampinUp!

My Husband and I have been married for 25 years. We are past all the romance of Valentine, but I always get a card I really like because I have made it. I feel that my world is more colourful with my husband in my life so this is a perfect card for us.

I wish I was brave enough to do a video tutorial for this card but hey I’ve started blogging so one step at a time.

For the card I have used:-

1 sheet of Whisper White 27×20 cm could be any colour you choose

8x9cm of window sheet

8.5×9.5cm of DPS this one has retired but there are plenty of other pretty ones.

2 die cut hearts from the Meant to Be cling bundle
